French In The Media

Today, thanks to the World Wide Web, listening to the radio in French and getting up to date with the latest happenings in the Francophone world are much easier than any-one would have believed in years past. Nevertheless, in Louisiana, numerous radio and television stations broadcast both locally-produced and internationally-originated French-language programs.

Unfortunately, given the ever-changing nature of the media, to list Louisiana media outlets which offer French-language programming is not possible in this format. How-ever, CODOFIL now sponsors an organization whose sole interest is Louisiana Francophone Media-Média-Louisiane. For further information about French in the media of Louisiana, contact Adam Steg, Attaché Audio-Visuelle with the French Consulat in New Orleans at (504) 529-7502.

Also, for over twenty years, CODOFIL has been offering to the readers of French in Louisiana and beyond the news from the fight for the development of French in Louisi-ana through LA Gazette de Louisiane. The goals of this newspaper, which is published six times per year, are numerous-reporting all events relating to CODOFIL and its mission, publishing literary works written in French in Louisiana, offering Louisiana's teachers of French pedagogical activities, and more. Upon subscribing to LA Gazette ($20 for one year), one also becomes a member of the CODOFIL Foundation.

For more information or to subscribe, contact CODOFIL.
